"Chambres d'hôtes" are the French version of the Bed & Breakfast. Located throughout France, they are a marvelous opportunity to discover the thousand faces of France.
You will receive a warm friendly welcome from your hosts, who will invite you to share their home and the gentle pace of French everyday life. For one night, a weekend, or a week or more, you can relax in rural or village surroundings, taking long walks in the countryside or small narrow streets, or simply enjoying the peace and quiet.
A copious breakfast is always included in the price of the B&B. Local specialties include home-made jams, fresh farmhouse bread, home baked pastries and local cheeses. You will sometimes have the opportunity of dining "à la table d'hôte" with your hosts. These are traditional family dinners including local family recipes and regional wines. Accommodation varies from country manors with period furniture to rustic simplicity on working farms. What you can be assured of is the warmth of your welcome and the authenticity of the atmosphere. In an authentic and high quality context, guest rooms are equipped with washbasins, shower and bath, as well as separate toilets. Others have shared WC and bathroom facilities. Most B&B have an independent entrance and a terrasse/garden for their guests. | ||
| Vacation Rentals are year round residences and used by their owners as secondary homes. They are often foreign owned and locally maintained. Some are located on country estates, others are larger homes or "maisons bourgeoises" and others are apartment dwellings, located in small towns or villages. A majority of Vacation Rentals are furnished with authentic period furniture, dining rooms, fully equipped kitchens, full bathrooms and all modern amenities. All homes are rented either weekly or monthly. |
| A gîte is a reasonably priced self-contained, self-catering seasonal rental property. Located in the countryside, some gîtes are located on farms, others in the smaller towns and villages. Gîtes come in various forms. These can be farm cottages, converted mills or barns, all separatly renovated as summer cottages. Others can be a separate self-contained appartment within an owners home.. They are privately owned and equipped for everyday life. Gîtes can be rented by the week, the month or by the week-end. |
For both Vacation Rentals and Gîtes, you require only
your daily shopping needs from the local market, butcher and bakery.
