B&B and Guest Cottage near St.Emilion

Situated in the region of Entre-Deux-Mers, la Forge, a B&B and guest cottage, is 15 miles (25 km) from St. Emilion and with easy access to the Graves, Sauternes and the Medoc vineyards. To the west, Bordeaux is half hour and the Atlantic beaches are an hour away. To the east, also one hour away, are the Dordogne and Périgord regions.

Entre-Deux-Mers itself has a rolling landscape of both vineyards and woods. There are many historical monuments to visit such as the 13th century abbey of the Sauve and the many "bastides" villages.

Riding stables are just down the road and we always have a couple of bicycles available if you want to discover the châteaux and churches along the paths and backroads of Entre-Deux-Mers. There is a golf course 15 min from la Forge. Painting and pottery workshops as well as cooking and French classes are often available in the nearby villages. The village of St.Quentin de Baron has an Arts Festival at the end of June every year and there is an active programme of cultural events throughout the year.

You are invited to stay with us in a renovated forge that has the charm and comfort brought to you by a French-American family. The house, as well as a guest cottage, artist's studio and woodworking space, surround a garden courtyard. A guest room with a private entrance and bathroom looks out to the east onto the courtyard, and to the west across its terrace to a prairie with vineyards beyond. Your day may start with a breakfast basket on your private terrace under the boxwood tree or with breakfast served at the family table surrounded by maps to plan your days expedition. The choice of daily excursions is wide and varied. At the end of the day you will perhaps want to come back and relax in front of a glowing fire to taste the wine you just discovered. You may also be tempted by the inviting piano in the living room or maybe just want to curl up to read in French-English library. In any case, you will certainly feel quite at home and perhaps even a little French.

Guest rooms

Guestrooms are bright and airy overlooking the garden or the courtyard. They are well-appointed with comfortable antique furnishings.

On the ground floor, there is a large terrace suite with king size bed and a full bathroom. It is located in a separate wing adjacent to La Forge. French doors open onto a private veranda overlooking the wineyards.

On the 2nd floor, there are 2 rooms with double beds and 1 room with a single bed. Private bathrooms. There are possibilitie of a childrens bedroom as a suite.

For family gatherings, additional rooms are available at nearby Pey Froment.

The guest cottage across the courtyard from the main house welcomes couples or small families with a living room, a sleeping loft, kitchen and bathroom with a jaccuzi shower. Fire places in both the kitchen and livingroom as well as under floor electric heating make it a year round vacation cottage.

Posibilities to sleep 3 singles or 1 double + single on the loft. One double sofa bed in living area.

Guest Cottage Rates per week:

250 to 500 euros, depending on the season.

Bedrooms: On the ground floor, 1 spacious suite with independent entrance located on ground floor in separate wing. It has 1 king size bed, a bathroom with bath, shower, washbasin and toilet. On the 2nd floor, 3 bedrooms with double and single beds. 2 bathrooms with bath, shower, washbasin and toilet. Private swimming pool in idyllic setting is also available a few km down the road at Pey Froment.
