Gîte near Anduze in the Cévennes
"La Folie Labahou"
A small and sinuous road leads to this delightful octogonal "folly", a unique and romantic hideway in a wonderful setting in the countryside, amidst vineyards and fields. It is situated 2km from Anduze and 15km from Alès and within easy reach of all corners of Provence. The XVIIe century "folly" is an annex of the château de Labahou and it was the pied-à-terre of the bishop of Nîmes during his visits in the diocese.
This 2-storey dwelling has been renovated to high standards and offers all modern comfort. The interior octogonal rooms are warm and comfortable. Downstairs consists of an open area dining/sitting room, an open fireplace and a separate kitchen. French doors open out onto a large terrace and a scented garden.
Stairs curve up to the second floor into a large open space bedroom with fabulous light and views of the estate. A french door leads to a small terrace and a stone stairway sweeps down to a wild "english" garden graced with a trickling fountain.
The "Folie" has its own swimming pool which is entirely fenced and has extensive views.
