Gite Rental in Gilhoc sur Ormeze, Ardèche,
in the northern part of the Massif Central

Babeth and Eric are inviting nature lovers and the inquisitive to explore their beautiful region.

If you like it rough, rugged and rural, choose the Ardèche, probably the wildest area of France, an area of outstanding natural beauty which has somehow escaped the onslaught of tourism. An unspoilt landscape, rugged, cut by gorges, bored by caves and scattered with dolmens, century old castles, perched strongholds, abbeys, little Roman churches, tiny cobble stone streets, lost farms and villages.

You can count more than 800 dolmens positioned by Neolithic tribes. The spectacular Chauvet Cave, recently discovered in the wilds of Ardèche, is considered the most exciting prehistoric find since Lascaux.

Water is everywhere and appears in a myriad of forms: clear swimming rivers and ponds, waterfalls, rapids, thermal springs, streams and village fontains.

The Rhône valley vineyards run in and out out between the hills, a short distance away. The Moulin de Bessin, in Gilhoc sur Ormeze, is a natural starting point for excursions to the Côtes du Rhône great names like St.Joseph, Saint-Peray, Hermitage, Crozes-Hermitage and Cornas to mention a few.
